Two of the hundreds of pots stolen in 1980. (University of Alabama)

It's been 23 years since hundreds of ornate pots excavated from the Mississippian Moundville site were stolen from the University of Alabama. The theft was kept quiet while the FBI pursued leads that suggested the pieces had been sold in Europe or Japan. University of Alabama archaeologist Jim Knight says he has already received a number of significant leads.
