Roman Cup	Volume 57 Number 2, March/April 2004

One of the highest-quality ancient Roman objects ever found in Wales, a magnificent first-century A.D. Roman silver cup, was discovered on a farm by a metal detectorist who promptly reported the find to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) officer in Wales, allowing the artifact to be recorded for future study. (For more on the PAS, see "Treasure Troves.") Most likely imported from Italy, the cup was found with cremated bone and potsherds and may have had a purpose related to funerary activities.
