Conversations: Achilles at the Gates! Volume 57 Number 3, May/June 2004

A respected comic-book artist tackles the Trojan War

Since 1998, San Francisco-based comic-book artist Eric Shanower has brought to life the passion, courage, greed, loyalty, and vengeance of the Trojan War in his Age of Bronze series. This considerable effort, which concludes with the fall of Troy, will eventually result in more than sixty issues bound in seven collected volumes. Volume two of the series, Age of Bronze: Sacrifice, will be released this May and is available at bookstores or through www.age-of-bronze.com. Shanower recently spoke to ARCHAEOLOGY about what makes drawing epic heroes different from drawing superheroes.
