King Tut is popularly viewed as the modern ideal of an ancient king, but the man who may be his father was a real pharaonic rebel. Through more than 100 artifacts the exhibit Amarna, Ancient Egypt's Place in the Sun highlights the reign of Akhenaten and his wife, Nefertiti, the pharaoh's campaign of monotheism, and his kingdom's dramatic departure from the norms of Egyptian art. The finds remain on view at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Philadelphia through October. If you wait until February you can catch it with the blockbuster Tut exhibit at Philly's Franklin Institute.
