THESSALONIKI, GREECE--Fifty-three people accused of being part of an illegal antiquities-smuggling network that sent ancient coins to auction houses abroad will go to trial in the Criminal Court of Thessaloniki. A police investigation in Macedonia, Thessaly, and central Greece recovered coins and other artifacts that had been obtained by the alleged ringleader, a retired customs officer. Many of his alleged partners in the network were his relatives.
