atzompa-oaxacaOAXACA, MEXICO—A tomb has been found beneath the floor of the main room in a house at Atzompa, a Zapotec site in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. The home was inhabited between 750 and 900 A.D., and is located within a middle-class residential area of the city. Earlier this year, three tombs were found in an elite area. This discovery is the first of its kind to be uncovered in a middle-class region.
