MohraMuraduMainStupa.JPGTAXILA—Coins and other artifacts from the Gandhara civilization are missing from a mound near Pakistan’s Mohra Muradu Stupa and Monastery, which dates to the fourth century A.D., and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Local people reported strangers with metal detectors at the site to officials at the department of archaeology and the police. It is thought that the looters came back later with shovels to find their treasures, and then concealed the evidence of their digging with a tractor.
