SEATTLE—More than 2,000 pounds of bones from cattle, goats, and sheep dating to the fourth and fifth centuries A.D. have been found in a theater in Corinth. Michael MacKinnon of the University of Winnipeg thinks that the bones were left behind when the cattle were processed at the theater, which had been abandoned, for large-scale annual feasting. “Maybe there are some special pots, or maybe we’ll find big communal cauldrons or something that gives a material record of a celebration,” he said at the annual meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America.
