Summer solstice observances at Stonehenge were marred by rowdies. English Heritage, the British governmental agency that adminsters the site, had granted special access to some 150 people to carry out celebrations and rituals, but 200 others crashed the perimeter fence; climbed on the monument, one woman dancing nude on the stones; and clashed with police and security officials who tried to evict them. Twenty-three were arrested. The disturbance prompted police to cancel a planned Druid celebration.
