After days with a brand new digital camera, but without strong and persistent morning winds, we were lucky this week. It finally became possible during two days (between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m) to take pictures from our kite. These images, which can be immediately downloaded and digitized on our computers, will be placed on top of the results of the geophysical survey (see Geophysical Survey, July 20-26). Several structures, such as for instance the gymnasium directly east of the theater, are clearly visible on these pictures. They also revealed traces of plowing on a flat area east of the theater, an activity that must either belong to the final days of the city's occupation or rather to a period after the site's abandonment. As the strong wind put a heavy strain on the rope attached to the belly of Dirk Menten, one of our recorders (together with Marc Waelkens, Ilse Desmedt and Juan Willems), Dirk Menten's T-shirt, became an "antiquity" in itself!
