Has the rock crystal been dated? Since the team has unearthed several samples, what are thoughts or determination of pourpose/use?

You guys had a great week. Very interesting discoveries you made during week 2. The miniature vessel from area IV, fantastic. Now is this find dating to Minoan? Thank you so much for the update.

In Area 2, fig. 2, what is the small rim at the base of the wall? Is it plaster remnants or something else?

Thanks for sharing the awesome field notes!

Hi, I am bringing a group of teenagers from the UK to Crete next summer(2012) to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award. Part of the award stipulates that they spend 5 days doing something that interests them away from home. I was wondering if it would be possible to come along to the dig and be put to work in some basic capacity? There are 10 of them, they are all from an independent school in Canterbury in the south of England. They are intelligent, articulate well presented individuals who would take this opportunity very seriously. We will be in Crete from 14/15 August until 28/29 August depending on flights. They will spend 5 days walking in the Lefka Ori fro the expedition part of the award. Can we be of any assistance?
Best Regards

Most fascinating. I'm going to be interested in seeing what it must have looked like at it's different stages in time. Will there be digital recreations?

Fascinating work! Thank you for taking the time to write up your findings. This type of web site provides the history enthusiast like me a bridge between difficult scholarly articles and the short and/or watered down articles found in magazines.

It must be quite exciting to be on site considering the amount of material coming out of the structure. Blows my mind that these items haven't seen the light of day in nearly 4000 years. Dig on!

Thanks for the fascinating field notes of this season, which I continue to follow with great interest.
I tried to leave a message last time I visited the Zominthos site but the text corrupted - so I hope this will get through to you. You certainly are making some serious progress and some interesting areas are being revealed. Very thrilling for arm-chair archaeologists such as me!!
My motto is Minoans Rock!
Best wishes to the team and I look forward to learning more in the future.
kind regards,
Saxon de Kock (Ms) in Johannesburg, South Africa
