GENEVA, SWITZERLAND—According to an Associated Press report, a private cultural goods importer has agreed to the return of a Roman sarcophagus to Turkey. The marble sarcophagus, found in a customs-office warehouse in Geneva seven years ago, dates to the second century B.C., and is carved with images of the 12 labors of Hercules. It is thought to have been plundered in the 1960s from Antalya’s ancient town of Perga. The sarcophagus will go on display before it is transferred to the Archaeological Museum in Antalya.
