| Many of the caves in Guayadeque are still being used as houses or to shelter animals. The people living there subsist much as the ancients did--farming and tending animals. Though out of necessity many have moved into the cities to work, some still keep caves for holidays and weekends. The caves are adapted, as in antiquity, to meet the needs of their inhabitants--some now park their cars in cave garages!
