Email this article "Under City Hall Park" February 25, 2000 Statue in park area east of City Hall and the Tweed Courthouse commemorates newspaperman Horace Greeley; at his feet is a plaque dedicated to Joseph Pulitzer. In the ground surrounding these monuments are intact burials of earlier, forgotten New Yorkers. Left unexcavated, primary burials found during the park renovation are now protected by reinforced concrete shells.
