The best place to purchase books about Egypt is either at the Brooklyn Museum or the Metropolitan Museum's bookstores. Both have great Egyptian book and knickknack collections for the browsing and buying.

The Dahesh Museum Shop

Although this collection of 19th-century European academic and orientalizing art no longer has a permanent home, its gift shop is located in Manhattan and includes Egyptian jewelry and prints. It also offers books on 18th and 19th century perceptions of the East, including Egypt, and tomes based on its collection.
