History and Archaeology Bulletin Board 2000

pride

Posted by Andy Bennett on April 25, 2000 at 11:53:44:

Ladies and gentlemen, this whole concern of history
and archaeology being in some way mutually exclusive of
one another revolves around the issue of pride -too
proud to admit mistakes. We all should focus on
antiquity. If that were the common ground or the top
of the pyramid so to speak, then all other disciplines
would have to find their place beneath it. It is as
simple as that. No semantics are necessary. Figure
out what antiquity is by any and all means. If you
think you're going to convince me otherwise, then you
are wrong and you are not going to win.
