History and Archaeology Bulletin Board 2000

history/archaeology debate

Posted by Jessica Paulus on March 24, 2000 at 14:35:45:

In my view point, history and archaeology compliment
each other! Why are the two sides bickering?
Artifacts give the written historical context concrete
evidence and the written word gives us the the story
behind the objects themselves. I am a history major
I have taken an archaeology class, as well as a
subscriber to 3 archaeology magazines. I love both
areas and I believe each has its strong points
and are both very valuable to understanding our past.
Why don't both areas work together!
