Donations Sought to Save the Miami Circle Site from Destruction!

The Miami-Dade County government has reached a settlement agreement with the owner of the property where the Miami Circle was discovered to purchase the downtown waterfront land for $26.7 million. So far, only $18 million in state and county funds have been committed. The additional monies must be raised within the next 18 months, including $2 million by November 30.

The Dade Heritage Trust, Miami-Dade County's largest preservation organization, has launched a private fund-raising campaign to help raise the funds to save the Miami Circle site and let the archaeologists continue their work. All proceeds will be forwarded to Miami-Dade County for the acquisiton of the property. To help, please send donations, in any amount, payable to:

Dade Heritage Trust/Save Our Circle Fund, 190 SE 12 Terrace, Miami, Florida 33131, phone: (305) 358-9572.
