CHANNERWICK—Recent storms in Scotland’s Shetland Islands uncovered an Iron Age building and a skeleton thought to be 2,000 years old. Archaeologists and police officers were able to examine the site and take a sample from the bones for radiocarbon dating before several tons of rock fell from a nearby bank and covered the area. “Coastal erosion is an ever present feature of archaeology in Shetland,” said Val Turner, county archaeologist.
