The cave's attendant and archaeologist Shri Manish of the Archaeological Survey of India rest at the entrance to the cave's main hall. An opening for the cave's cistern is visible at lower left. Empty niches at the far end provide hints of what Mandapeshwar once was. A 1981 Archaeological Survey of India publication, Cave Temples of the Deccan, calls Mandapeshwar "a landmark in the rock-architectural activities" of the Mumbai region. Samir S.
